Hot tub or swim spa – which is right for you?

If you’ve been shopping for a hot tub for any length of time, you’ve probably stumbled across something you might not even have known existed – the swim spa. While they’ve actually been around for a while, it’s only during the last few years that more people have come to know about them. An interesting combination of a pool and a hot tub, swim spas, like the Endless Pools® Fitness Systems, offer many features that just aren’t available in a typical hot tub.

But does that mean a swim spa is right for you? Let’s investigate …

For Swimming

If you like to swim but can’t always get time in the local lap pool, a swim spa may be a great answer for you. The constant current means you can swim any distance, at almost any speed. Practice your strokes or teach the kids and grandkids how to swim – any time of year. Swim spas are built for year-round use!

For Exercise

If fitness is your goal but swimming isn’t really your exercise of choice, a swim spa offers many options. Add a rowing kit or underwater treadmill for cardio and resistance exercise, or use the generous space for water aerobics or water yoga.

Relaxation

All swim spas include a hydrotherapy area – seats with hydrotherapy jets so you can enjoy the relaxing benefits, similar to a hot tub. Some larger models actually have a partition so the swim and therapy areas are separate – essentially giving you a backyard pool AND spa. However, these larger models take up more space, so keep that in mind.

So, let’s cut to the chase. What’s the best choice for you? Well, if you’re fitness minded or have a family that includes a number of children, you should give serious consideration to a swim spa. But if relaxation and hydrotherapy are your goals, a hot tub might be best for you.
